Vergara was found by a photographer as she was strolling along a beach in Colombia. Almost immediately after her discovery, she was offered modeling and television jobs. She had previously been “apprehensive about doing her first television commercial—until her Catholic schoolteachers gave her their personal permission to take the assignment.”
