After graduating from high school, Schafer began his career as a model. Using the benefits that come with “looking like a model” as a means to deconstruct beliefs about gender identity was her goal. Following her encounter with an Elite Model Management representative on Instagram in 2017, she received a contract with the agency and relocated to Brooklyn in order to begin her modeling career in New York City.
She began her modeling career with Dior and Marc Jacobs, among other companies, and by the end of the year, she had appeared for Converse, Gucci, Helmut Lang, and Versus Versace, among other brands.
