Wahlberg grew up in a working-class household in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, being the youngest of nine children. During his childhood, his parents went through a divorce, and when he was 14 years old, he decided to drop out of high school.

New Kids on the Block was a boy band that was quite popular, and his older brother Donnie was a member of it. Mark had been a member of the band from the beginning, but he left not long after to start his own band. Along with his buddies Scott, Hector, Terry, and Anthony, he established the hip-hop group known as Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
The band released their first studio album, “Music for the People,” in 1991. On the Billboard Hot 100, the song “Good Vibrations” reached its highest position at number one. The album contained this song. His brother Donnie was the one who ultimately produced the CD.
With the success of their first album, the band moved fast to create their second album, which was titled “You Gotta Believe,” in 1992. This record, however, did not meet with any success, and the band eventually disbanded. It was with the television movie “The Substitute” in 1993 that he made his leap into the acting world. It was in the 1994 comedy film “Renaissance Man” that he made his debut in the role of Private Tommy Lee Haywood with Danny DeVito.
His role as a co-producer on the HBO historical drama series “Boardwalk Empire,” which made its debut in September of 2010, is a significant accomplishment. The book “Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City,” written by Nelson Johnson, served as the source of inspiration for the program that went on to win other awards.
