What is MS Word (Microsoft Word)

Microsoft Word developed Microsoft Word, a commercial word processor that serves a large number of users. In addition to being a part of the Microsoft Office suite of productivity software, MS Word is now available for purchase as a standalone application.

Since its initial release in October 25, 1983, MS Word has undergone extensive revisions. Both the Windows operating system and the Apple operating system are supported. With the intention of developing a word-processing tool, Microsoft employed Charles Simonyi in 1981. Microsoft released the first version to the public in 1983.

Because of its strikingly dissimilar appearance to that of WordPerfect, which was the most widely used word processor at the time, Microsoft Word did not initially enjoy a great deal of popularity. Despite this, Microsoft has consistently improved Word over the years, releasing a Mac-compatible version in 1985.

Additionally, additional functionality, including support for rich text format (RTF), was incorporated in the second major edition of Word, which was released in 1987. This release also contained an update on significant features.

Microsoft’s market share in the word processor industry expanded in 1995 with the arrival of Windows 95 and Office 95, which provided an integrated set of office productivity software. This allowed Microsoft to boost its market share among word processors.

A WYSIWYG display, which stands for “what you see is what you get,” is one of the characteristics that has contributed to the usefulness of Microsoft Word. This design guarantees that everything that is presented on the screen looks the same way, whether it is printed or transferred to another format or application. One of the reasons why Microsoft Word has been so successful over the last two decades is that it allows users to copy and paste text from Microsoft Word onto a wide variety of other platforms without causing major formatting loss during the process.

Additionally, Microsoft Word is equipped with a built-in dictionary that may be used for spell-checking. Words that are misspelled are highlighted with a red, squiggly underlining. Text-level features in Microsoft Word include bold, underline, italic, and strike-through, whereas page-level features include indentation, paragraphing, and justification. These features are available as text-level features. It is possible to use Word in conjunction with a wide variety of other programs, the most frequent of which are the other Office suite applications.

How to Open MS Word?

1. Click the Window’s Start button.

2. Type (Microsoft Word) MS Word on start button.

3. Click on the MS Word (Mirosoft Word).

4. Wait for the process to happen, MS Word (Microsoft Word) will open.
