Misty May-Treanor has had a substantial amount of development during the course of his career.
Kerri Walsh, who had previously participated in the category of indoor volleyball at the Sydney Olympics, was May’s partner in the beach volleyball team that she founded in the year 2001. In the end, they were ranked fifth in the world, but in 2002, they climbed all the way to the first spot.
They were even more successful in 2003, when they won a record-breaking ninety consecutive matches and all eight competitions in which they participated. This included the world championships, in which they defeated the Brazilian team that had been defending their title during the whole tournament.
These accomplishments carried over to the Olympic Games held in Athens in 2004, when they made history by being the first American female tandem to win the gold medal in beach volleyball. After the Athens Games, they went on to win two more world championships, the first in 2005 and the second in 2007. In the meanwhile, May tied the knot with Matt Treanor, a player for the Major League Baseball, in November of 2004, and Walsh tied the knot with Casey Jennings, a volleyball player, in December of 2005.

Misty May-Treanor Awards and Achievements
At the Summer Olympics in 2004, 2008, and 2012, May-Treanor and her colleague Kerri Walsh Jennings won the gold medal in the beach volleyball competition. In addition, they secured the title of FIVB Beach Volleyball World Champions in the years 2003, 2005, and 2007.
Throughout the course of their collaboration, the two individuals established a number of records, one of which was a victory run of 112 consecutive matches (19 consecutive tournament crowns) in 2007–2008. This streak caused them to surpass their own previous record of 89 consecutive match wins. A number of people have referred to them as “the greatest beach volleyball team of all time.”
May-Treanor announced her retirement from competitive play on August 8, 2012, after the completion of the 2012 Summer Olympics, in which she and Walsh Jennings won the gold medal. In the year 2016, she was honored with induction into the Volleyball Hall of Fame.
