He has had a substantial amount of development during the course of his career.
Following the release of his second film, Sankharavam (1987), Babu went on to star in a number of additional films, including Bazaar Rowdy (1988), Mugguru Kodukulu (1988), and Gudachari 117 (1989 among others. In the film Koduku Diddina Kapuram (1989), he played a dual role starring opposite another actor. After that, Babu continued his work in the film industry by appearing in films such as Bala Chandrudu (1990) and Anna Thammudu (1990), while studying at the college level.
During the year 1999, he made his first appearance in a leading role in the film Raja Kumarudu, which he co-starred in with Priety Zinta. In terms of box office receipts, the movie was a success.
During its 50-day run, the movie was shown in 80 theaters, and during its 100-day duration, it was shown in 44 theaters. It is estimated that Raja Kumarudu amassed a revenue of around ₹10.51 Crores from the state of Andhra Pradesh.Prince No. 1 was the name given to him in Hindi, while Kaadhal Vennila was the name given to him in Tamil.
It was the Nandi Award for Best Male Debut that he obtained. Yuvaraju and Vamsi were the two films that he became a part of throughout the following year. In the year that followed, he also appeared in the film Murari, which was directed by Krishna Vamsi.
Murari was a film that he considered to be significant in his career, and the character that he played in it is still considered to be one of his most cherished performances to this day. In recognition of his exceptional performance in this film, Babu was awarded the Nandi Special Jury Award for the second time.

Between the months of September 2004 and September 2005, Babu and director Gunasekhar were present at a rally that was organized by his supporters in Warangal for the purpose of promoting Arjun. According to the allegations, he and his followers broke into two video libraries and attacked the proprietors of those libraries, who were selling unlicensed CDs of the movie.
It was recorded that he, who was the major accused, along with five other individuals, were charged with criminal trespass under section 448 of the Indian Penal Code, mischief under section 427, and kidnapping under section 366. After some time had passed, a group of individuals from the Telugu cinema industry, which included his father Krishna, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Allu Aravind, and D. Suresh Babu, addressed Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who was serving as the chief minister at the time, in an effort to interfere in this matter.
Regarding the matter, Babu said that while charges were filed against him on “the basis of wrong information,” not a single case had been filed against the individual who dealt in bootlegged CDs. This was the “funniest” thing that he considered to be the situation. Pawan Kalyan, an actor, expressed his unreserved support for Babu during the whole event.
In September of 2004, Babu turned himself in to the district court, and after that, he made another appearance before the court in April of 2006. The last hearing, which took place in July 2006, resulted in Babu and the others being exonerated. A total of nine Nandi Awards, five Filmfare South Awards, three CineMAA Awards, three Santosham Film Awards, four SIIMA Awards, and one IIFA Utsavam Award have been bestowed.
